Beryllium’s exceptional rigidity and low mass make it an ideal material for tweeter domes. Its unique properties allow it to reproduce complex harmonics with remarkable clarity, maintaining precision even at high listening levels. However, not all Beryllium tweeters are created equal. Traditionally, dome tweeters are slightly recessed to reduce diffraction caused by sharp cabinet edges. Yet even a small recess can act as a waveguide, introducing unwanted coloration. Our approach is different. We mount the dome completely flush with the baffle, enabling a wide, unobstructed off-axis response. This rare design requires meticulously rounded baffle edges to effectively control diffraction.To further enhance performance, we use an exceptionally narrow surround, minimizing any residual “soft dome” coloration. Combined with a powerful magnetic flux density of 2.0 Tesla, this tweeter represents a refined implementation of Beryllium technology—delivering a strikingly realistic and transparent sound.

A Cellulose Glass Composite

By combining cellulose with fine glass fibers, this cone material unites the best of two worlds. Cellulose brings damping qualities and warm, natural tone, while glass fibers add stiffness and control, reducing unwanted resonances. The coating process further stabilizes the cone and ensures consistent performance across the audible spectrum. Where traditional paper membranes can introduce colorations at higher levels, the Cellulose glass composite maintains neutrality and detail, even under demanding dynamics. Supporting this, a Balanced Drive motor structure minimizes distortion by keeping the voice coil motion symmetrical, ensuring clarity and precision throughout the range. This careful balance allows the woofer to deliver a smooth, natural midrange together with an articulate and well-controlled bass. The result is a driver that is both musical and precise—an ideal foundation for the Reference Three, offering an engaging, open sound with a remarkable sense of ease.
