With the smell of real leather, curves from mid century bend wood, and outer space material Beryllium, the Grande makes a lasting impression. With the Beryllium tweeter extending to 40kHz, the perception of transients and other micro details is unsurpassed. The hardwired cross over is fitted with Mundorf Supreme capacitors and foil coils to enable the full potential of the Beryllium tweeter. Along with the refined mid range driver and powerfull, accurate base driver, the Grande recreates the atmosphere as was intended by the musicians. The exclusive Grande is handbuild by Davone founder Paul Schenkel.
The complex cabinet consists of no less then twelve carefully matched elements for each pair of speakers. Each of these elements is constructed from 16 layers of curved beech wood strengthened furthermore with massive internal bracing. With the solid steel FEM optimized stand design, the cabinet provides an inert base for the top quality drivers.
The placement of drivers were chosen with regard to typical room conditions. The woofer/ mid range placement prevents the bass notch, typically arround 150 Hz, that occurs in speakers with woofers high off the ground. Because lower midrange/upper bass is actually the key to realistic music reproduction, we have ensured this crucial frequency spectrum is properly reproduced.
The linearity of the speaker’s response curve is mainly a function of three opposite parameters: lightness, rigidity and damping. To this day, only one material permits a joining of these parameters: Beryllium. The linearity of the frequency response curve, the acoustic transparency and the impulse response of the Beryllium tweeter are maximized and offer near-perfect sound.
